Busy weekend in our theaters as several have openings. Boise Contemporary Theater presents "Namaste Man" and Boise Little Theater brings us the classic "12 Angry Men". For a more complete list of what's playing this weekend visit "Now Playing".

Ballet Idaho is offering a Matinee Ticket Rush for their Saturday, April 10 at 2pm and Sunday, April 11 at 2pm shows of The Italian Program. Tickets are greatly reduced for these 2 shows only ($35 for Section A, $23.75 for Section B and $15 for Section C). Tickets are available through Idaho Tickets and at any BSU Select a Seat outlet.

On Saturday, April 10, Stage Coach Theatre hosts Improvolution, a local improv group. The cost is $10 and the show starts at 8 pm.

The coupon for free tickets to Boise Music Week's production of "Hello, Dolly" will be printed in the Idaho Statesman on April 14. The performance runs May 5-8 at the Morrison Center.

On Monday, April 12, the net-working workshop "Make First Impressions Last" will be presented by Lissa Hamilton and Pamela Thompson. A first impression is the critical first step in networking. How do you follow up that favorable first impression and build business or

BGLAD is hosting "Sheaster", an Amateur Drag contest, on Saturday, April 10 at 6:30pm at the BSU Student Union Hatch Ballroom. There are no entry fees and anyone can enter with a simple e-mail: bsubglad@gmail.com. The event features special guest judge, Minerva Jayne.

CAN-ACT Theater is holding a Reunion Party on April 16 at the Eagle's Lodge in Nampa (118 11th Ave.). Whether you have been an audience member or part of a cast or crew, you are considered a CAN-ACT alumni. Bring your favorite finger food to share. CAN-ACT will supply chips & dip, dessert and table service. Soft drinks and other beverages will be available for purchase at the Eagle's bar. The party starts at 7pm.

The Costume Shop is hosting a Gala Fashion Show and Contest at Hijinx in downtown Boise on April 17. The event showcases some of the Costume Shop's most outrageous and fabulous costumes, modeled by some of your local favorites. This is a benefit for Boise Pride and is hosted by Minerva Jayne and Jen Adams. Doors open at 9:30p and the admission is $8.00 per person with costume and $10.00 for non costume patrons. LUNAFEST is coming to Boise on April 23, at the Flicks. This film festival featuring short films for, by, and about women in sponsored by Reel Women of the West.

Dead 8 Film Club and Prestige Skateboards are co-sponsoring a free showing of a skater movie at the Special Events Center on April 26. The film is titled "Casual Business" and was shot entirely in Boise. The movie starts at 7p. The event is free. There will be a discussion after the film with the filmmakers.

Company of Fools has announced their line-up for next season. They begin this July with "The 39 Steps", adapted by Patrick Barlow from an original concept by Simon Corble & Nobby Dimon. It is described as a 'Hitchcok masterpiece with a dash of Monty Python".
Following in the season are Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", "Moonlight and Magnolias" by Ron Hutchinson and "Dead Man's Cell Phone" by Sarah Ruhl.

MDG Films has announced a limited time offer for their upcoming film, "Hell Bent For Victory". Pre-orders for the dvd will be accepted until Thursday, April 22nd at Hell Bent for Victory. Boise Little Theater announces Acting Classes for all age groups, ages 6 - adult, with it's Spring 2010 schedule. Each class meets once per week for eight weeks, and is designed to give students a fun, challenging approach to developing the skills needed to be accomplished performers. AUDITIONS
April 17 - 18 -- Stage Coach Theatreauditions it's evening of One Acts, directed by Genny Ulmen and Lora Volkert. Needed for these plays are 9 men and 7 women of adult ages.
May 1-3 -- Encore Theatre will be holding auditions at the Nampa Civic Center for its production of William Shakespeare's "As You Like It". If you are interested in a principal part, bring a memorized 2 minute monologue from a Shakespearean or similar source. There are also parts for the company which do not involve many lines. If you are interested in being in a Shakespeare play without having to memorize all those lines, just show up and they will do cold readings for the audition. Performances are July 1-10. Contemporary Theater
presents "Namaste Man" by Andrew Weems. In Nepal, "Namaste" means both
hello and goodbye. Andrew Weems, the son of a US State Department
officer, was born in the U.S. Military Hospital in Seoul, Korea, and
grew up in Zambia and Nepal, with brief detours to the suburbs of
Virginia. In "Namaste Man" he tells the story of his unconventional
childhood—a life filled with constant hellos and goodbye, in a world
rich with adventures and outsized personalities.
April 9 - 11 -- Ballet Idaho presents "All-Italian Program" at the Special Events Center. Closing the 2009-2010 season are three very different ballets, featuring Vivaldi’s "Four Seasons", choreographed by Balletmaster Alex Ossadnik, Stravinsky’s "Pulcinella", a Venetian comic adventure based on the drawings of Domenico Tiepolo, and a new ballet choreographed to Mendelssohn’s lush "Italian Symphony" by Artistic Director, Peter Anastos. Friday, April 9 at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday, April 11 at 2 p.m. BSU Special Events Center.

A 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. “He doesn’t stand a chance,” mutters the guard as the 12 jurors are taken into the bleak jury room. It looks like an open-and-shut case, until one of the jurors begins opening the others’ eyes to the facts.

March 19 - April 17 -- Knock 'em Dead presents "Nunsense". It's “habit-forming”!! And returning by popular demand are the little nuns of Hoboken. The 5 surviving nuns are staging a variety show, the rest of the sisterhood having succumbed to botulism after eating vichyssoise prepared by Sister Julia, Child of God. The remaining “little Hobo’s” parade their talents at a variety show staged to raise funds so the last four of the dearly departed can be buried. KED is proud to bring the nuns back for their reunion of this musical comedy classic.
