The Lunatic

A sensitive, boyish type... butterfly wings held endless fascination for him, as did tulip petals and reflections of coloured lights off quartz.

He had a girl. Life being irrelevant to him, and stillness being perfect for examination, he brought her endless fluctuations and murmurs to a halt one day. One day, a day he declared perfect for the occasion, breezy and dappled, hot weeds under the sun and flying creatures in the bedroom of his thoughts, he caught her. He caught her and imposed an invitation upon her to his home. An imposition he rationalized away with the thought of his next series of activities.

He had her senses immersed in stimulation for the remainder of their operation. Sounds wafted through the room, in varying frequencies. An elaborate series of mechanics were set up to control the delivery of alternating sweet scents and obtrusive odours into the air. Tiny fans strategically placed throughout the room sent showers of down upon her, landing softly on her skin. He injected her with minute amounts of hallucinogenics, so that the messages her eyes sent her brain were tainted and glittering. Drops of honey were placed in her mouth periodically, as were seeds of anise and slivers of habenaro seeped in lemon. He held a candle over her arm and tipped it slowly, watching the hair singe and crisp as the wax dripped; then covered the bare spot in crushed ice. This perfect and transitory period lasted as long as he wished it, being the sole proprietor of his exemplary world. Occasionally he would turn his head and smile shyly at his panel of observers, his eyes would drop in quiet acquiescence.

After this unselfish pampering of his charge, he got down to the task of removing the factories, the landscapes of people spread out over her fields. He would restore those molded acres to sterilized, overgrown wilderness. Elite in principal and cleansed of organized, social regime.

He would let loose her cerebrum and balance her synapses in a never ending equation, a ceaseless fractal of abstract evolution.

All with the aid of an ordinary kitchen utensil.
